We’re proud of every piece we make. This aftercare guide will help you get the most out of your joinery throughout its long life.

AFTERCARE

We’re proud to make products which are designed to be part of your daily lives, and this means that there will naturally be an element of wear and tear.

Our first tip is don’t worry! The beauty of working with timeless designs and natural materials, is that they suit a lived in look — and if houses are designed for anything, it’s life!

But, we’ve popped a few tips below to help you keep on top of touch-ups, and to advise on how best to look after your products.

Step 1

First step, run your hands over it, and if you can feel a divot or indent at the chip we recommend sanding lightly with some 320 grit sandpaper. This will soften the surface and help the new paint blend with the old.

Step 2

Once the sanding is done, clean your surface, as the paint won’t stick properly to grease or dust. We would recommend using a small amount of warm soapy water and a soft cloth.

Step 3

Wipe the surface dry and then use a small paintbrush to paint across the chip with a good coating. Note: the paint will dry lighter so don’t panic if the colours don’t match right away.

We work with two paint finishes, Polyurethane Lacquer spray (PL), or Acrylic spray.

To know which finishes you have opted for, please see your Kalluno card. The PL Spray can’t be touched up by hand, but is far more hardwearing and so shouldn’t require it.

For the acrylic painted elements, chips in the paintwork may appear over time, but don’t panic, these can be easily touched up. Please note that you will have been given a pot or two of leftover paint for this, but if you can’t find your paint name or code, all the details can also be found on your Kalluno card.

Oiling your cabinetry

We would also recommend oiling every now and then to keep your cabinets looking shiny and ship shape! We use Osmo oil as it protects and enhances the natural character of the wood. For low traffic areas (inside cabinets etc.) every 4 to 5 years is about right, and for higher traffic ones (worktops etc.) we’d suggest every 18 months to 2 years.
